Annual Fund

Gifts to the Annual Fund support Whitfield's operating budget.  Each year, Whitfield depends on gifts from our current parents, alumni, alumni parents, faculty and staff, and friends to raise $1 million dollars to maintain and enhance our excellence in education.  Over 50% of dollars raised through the Annual Fund supports faculty and staff salaries and benefits.  Gifts range from $5 to $50,000 or more.  And, every gift, in any amount, is important.

Major Gifts

An important component of an independent school’s development strategy is major gift fundraising. While foundations and corporations play an important role in this area, it is mostly individuals, often our current parents, who are the most prominent source of major gifts.  Major gifts range from $1,000 to $500,000 or more and are typically broken down into two distinct categories: Endowment and Planned Giving.

These gifts can be restricted, meaning the gift must be used for the specific purposed requested by the benefactor.  But often, and the most helpful gift, is unrestricted.  This allows Whitfield to invest the gift into its endowment and ultimately use the funds where it is needed most.
