Job Description
The Kerner Family Director of Teaching and Learning (DTL) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the high quality of the Whitfield academic experience. This position is responsible for fostering professional growth among faculty by designing, coordinating, and implementing formative programs that promote reflection and integrate current research and best practices into pedagogy and curricula. Through these efforts, the DTL supports a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the School’s teaching practices. Complementing this work, the DTL oversees the School’s academic support program. This involves coordinating and supervising the work of learning specialists, and in-house, private tutors. By managing these programs and resources, the DTL ensures that students receive the individualized academic support necessary for their success.
The Director of Teaching and Learning is central to both the ongoing development of faculty and the educational support structures that empower students to thrive. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of pedagogy, a commitment to fostering professional excellence, and a dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Director of Teaching and Learning reports to the assistant head of school, and is a member of the administrative leadership team and the academic leadership team. The DTL works closely with the assistant head of school and two division directors in supervising the academic department chairs, supporting their work as curricular and pedagogical leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Faculty and Staff Professional Learning
- Articulate and disseminate current research, fostering the integration and adoption of research-based best practices in instructional practice
- Collaborate with division directors, department chairs, and grade-level coordinators to evaluate instructional practices and implement targeted improvements
- Maintain high quality instructional resources that provide teachers the tools they need to deliver a college-preparatory curriculum
- Design and lead professional development initiatives aligned with strategic goals and tailored to the needs of faculty and staff
- Lead the Academic Leadership Team in the collection, documentation, analysis, and use of student learning data, both internal and external, to ensure student learning
- Partner with division directors to ensure accurate and effective assessment of student learning
- Collaborate with department chairs on quality improvement processes that enhance the design and planning of curricula, course delivery, learning environments, and faculty development
- Work collaboratively with the director of technology to support faculty and students with the use of technology that enhances academic differentiation and personalized learning.
Student Learning
- Oversee the School’s academic support programs ensuring all students have access to resources on, and the ability to improve their skills in, executive functioning, metacognitive strategies, and self-advocacy
- Lead student support team meetings, and manage learning specialists and in-house tutors, including determining schedules for intervention, overseeing learning plans, implementation, and parent communication
- Launch and oversee the School’s new specialized learning program to offer best-in-class individualized support for the students in the program
- Work in 1-on-1 and small group settings with students to
- model, teach, and practice cognitive strategies and executive function skills and
- support students’ understanding of their cognitive profiles
- Attend grade level team meetings to discuss student status / progress
- Conduct student observations in classrooms, implement formal observation protocols, and provide feedback to support growth
- Collaborate and coordinate with outside interventionists to maximize skill transfer and student growth
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with parents, faculty, and other professionals (including on-campus tutors), as necessary
- Support the college counseling department with standardized student accommodations
- Partner with division directors to organize and implement appropriate data collection and ensure the delivery of standardized testing accommodations
- Serve on the admission committee and provide feedback on best fit and institutional limitations
Administration
- Contribute to school leadership as a member of both the administrative and academic leadership teams
- Supervise and support learning specialists / Evergreen coaches, in order to review student progress, refine coaching strategies, and assess the effectiveness of interventions
- In collaboration with the division directors, supervise and lead department chairs to design and support the School’s grades 6-12 curriculum
- Collaborate with division directors to support the development of curriculum within their division
- Facilitate a systematic cycle of curriculum review and documentation both within sections and across disciplines to ensure vertical alignment of the program and horizontal coordination of the program and student experience
- Be a visible presence in the school

Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in school psychology, reading instruction, special education, curriculum and instruction, or a related field preferred
- Specialized training in student-centered pedagogy, learning strategies, data-informed practices, and student support systems would be highly desirable
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, such as department chair, instructional coach, learning specialist, curriculum coordinator, or academic administrator
- A strong track record of designing and implementing professional development initiatives for faculty
- Strong proficiency with academic technology and tools used to support teaching, learning, and data collection

Director of Enrollment Management
Director of Enrollment Management
Job Description
The director of enrollment management will lead the strategic and operational components of enrollment management; develop the research and analyze the data necessary to inform enrollment-related decisions; and direct student recruitment, retention, and enrollment efforts. The director is responsible for outreach to prospective families and the enrollment and re-enrollment of a mission-aligned student body. The director serves as the external face of The Whitfield School’s enrollment efforts and works with all constituencies to inspire community-based outreach.
The director of enrollment management reports to the head of school, acts as a member of the Administrative Team and the Advancement Leadership Team, and leads the Admission Office.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Design and implement annual admission and enrollment goals and strategies that are informed by data analytics and market research and that align with Whitfield’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities;
- Deliver strategic thought-leadership in admission, marketing, and recruitment;
- Ensure the continued academic, athletic, and co-curricular excellence of the School’s student body through recruitment, enrollment, and retention practices informed by the School’s strategic priorities;
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators for recruitment, enrollment, and retention, sharing insights and actionable recommendations to the advancement leadership team;
- Foster a school-wide enrollment management culture by engaging all stakeholders (faculty, staff, senior leadership, trustees, coaches, current and past parents, et al.) in the process of attracting and retaining mission-appropriate students;
- Provide counsel and serve as a resource to academic leadership in program development that will resonate in the local marketplace and position Whitfield as the school of choice for experiential and forward-looking college preparatory education in St. Louis; and
- Attend Board of Trustees meetings, and keep the Board fully apprised of the School’s admission and enrollment efforts.
Admission Office and Operations
- Direct the process of attracting, selecting, and enrolling mission-appropriate students, ensuring a smooth experience for applicants and their families, and sustaining and enhancing the School’s position in the St. Louis marketplace;
- Coordinate and lead recruitment and retention initiatives, including all Admission events, campus visits, feeder school outreach, and prospective family communications and engagement;
- Lead and manage the Admission team, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing goals for, and evaluating team members;
- Maintain and interpret admission, enrollment, and retention statistics to track trends, create enrollment and net tuition projections, and support the School's strategic initiatives; and
- Oversee the admission information management software, the online application and submission of materials, and testing administration and logistics.
Teams and Collaborations
- Collaborate with the head of school, the director of finance and operations, and the financial aid committee to manage the tuition assistance program, leveraging financial aid and merit-based scholarships to attract and retain a talented student body while achieving net tuition revenue targets;
- Collaborate with the director of communications and marketing to develop communication and marketing strategy that will attract mission-appropriate students and enhance Whitfield’s position in the marketplace, including the effective use of social media and other online tools, and production of all admission marketing materials, including the Admission section of the School’s website;
- Collaborate with the Business Office to manage new student enrollment and the re-enrollment process for current students;
- Coordinate with the assistant head of school and other senior leaders on the new family experience, ensuring that newly enrolled students and their families have a seamless and positive experience through a student’s first year and beyond;
- Serve as a member of the Administrative Team; and
- Serve as a member of the Advancement Leadership Team.

- Experience working with students across ages and stages of development preferred;

Tech Support Specialist
Tech Support Specialist
Job Description
The tech support specialist is a vital part of the The Whitfield School's technology team, providing end-user support with minimal supervision. This role involves basic troubleshooting, exceptional people skills, and the ability to support faculty, staff, and students. The Specialist will manage the ticket system and handle the setup and movement of TVs and projectors for various events.
The tech support specialist reports to the director of technology.
Key Responsibilities
General Overview
- Runs the IT helpdesk located in our school library on days school is in session (8:00AM-4:00PM)
- Provide basic tech support for PCs and some MacBooks
- Assists with AV across campus during and after school
- Daily assembly AV setup: Prepare and manage AV equipment for daily assemblies
- Event AV setup: Set up AV equipment for on-campus events
- Printer monitoring: Monitor printers and contact vendors for support as needed
- Warranty administration: Administer warranties for PCs under lease agreements
- Tech supplies management: Monitor and order tech supplies to ensure availability
- Create user accounts
- Assist the director of technology with supporting AD, AAD, and Google Suite
- Ticket submission: Submit tickets for Tier 2 support needs with vendors
Desktop Support
- Provides daily support for the computing desktop; including operating system, software installation and maintenance, and hardware
- Responds to assigned tickets
- Evaluates, prioritizes, resolves problems and requests or escalates to appropriate support areas
- Acts as the front-facing support liaison for all desktop-related support issues
- Provides support documentation for Tier 1
Service Desk
- Collaborates with higher-level technical areas on planning and issue resolution
- Prioritizes workload to appropriately respond to customer needs and demands
- Acts as a liaison between customers and senior technical staff
Project Facilitation
- Completes tasks associated with projects or activities that relate to the desktop support environment, such as system upgrades, system integration, and system administration
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification; associates degree preferred
- Experience providing desktop support, ideally in a school setting
- Accountability and punctuality
- Customer service minded with the ability to interface with adults and students alike

Security Officers
Whitfield School is seeking additional part time security officers to a community that emphasizes college prep through character education. Eight hour shifts are available on Saturdays and Sundays 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM. Other 4 to 6 hour shifts may be available during the week with after school activities. Holiday pay is time and a half.
The school will provide all uniforms and equipment (except weapon) and will cover the cost of training and licensing. Armed or unarmed positions available.
Weekend duties include unlocking and relocking various parts of the buildings, interior and exterior patrol, directing traffic on campus for events, and other general security functions.
Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience is preferred, but not required.
Must possess or have access to reliable transportation.

Boys Varsity Volleyball Head Coach
Whitfield School, an innovative educational institution for students in grades 6-12, seeks a Boys Varsity Volleyball Head Coach to join a community that emphasizes college prep through character education. This part time, season-specific position is for the 2024-2025 school year with a start date of March 3, 2025.
We believe that participation in athletics and extracurricular activities has a positive effect on student success and is an important area for student learning. Our commitment to a participation philosophy for all athletic programs provides all students with the opportunity to achieve their goals both on and off the field.
Responsibilities include:
- Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for achievement in boys volleyball
