Whitfield Welcomes Heather Carreiro, director of enrollment management, to Admissions Office
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce that Heather Carreiro will join Whitfield as our new director of enrollment management, effective July 1, 2025.
Heather brings to Whitfield long experience in both domestic and international schools, expertise in strategic communications, and a deep commitment to student-centered, experiential education. With thirteen years in independent schools, Heather has worked both in the classroom and in school leadership, including as the leader of integrated experiential programs at a school in South Korea and as the Deputy Head of School at an international school in Vietnam. Most recently, Heather has served in the admissions and marketing office at Midland School, a boarding school in California committed to place-based, experiential learning. There, Heather worked collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to elevate the school’s brand presence in California, grow applications, and build systems for sustained enrollment success. Throughout her career, Heather has demonstrated a strong ability to connect strategic vision and student experience, helping schools and students alike to learn and grow.
Heather holds an MBA in Business Analytics, a Principal Certification in Educational Administration, a Master’s in English, and a BA in Linguistics and Middle Eastern Studies. She is also a certified Project Management Professional and has presented nationally on agile project management in enrollment.
During her visit to Whitfield, Heather impressed faculty, staff, and students alike with her energy, intelligence, and genuine personal warmth. When asked what drew her to Whitfield, Heather shared:
Whitfield’s commitment to experiential learning, student voice, and community connection mirrors my own core values. During my visit, I saw firsthand a vibrant school culture where creativity and joy are thriving—and I knew I wanted to be part of it. My goal is to help right-fit families find their place here, where students can experience the kind of optimal learning that leads not only to success, but to fulfillment.
Heather will be relocating to St. Louis from Los Olivos, California, with her daughter, Arianne, a sixth-grade artist and dancer who is already eager to explore all that Whitfield and the city have to offer. A musician herself, Heather is looking forward to connecting with the local arts and nonprofit communities—and discovering St. Louis’ dynamic music scene.
Heather’s global perspective, collaborative mindset, and passion for student growth make her an outstanding addition to our leadership team. I look forward to working with her—and with the entire admissions team—in the years ahead.
Warmly,
Chris Cunningham, Ph.D.
Head of School
