Dr. Miller W. Boyd III Featured Speaker in Missouri History Museum Event

Whitfield faculty member Dr. Miller W. Boyd III will be a featured speaker during the Missouri History Museum’s annual commemoration of Emancipation Day on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 6:30 PM. The program will be virtual. Dr. Boyd will provide a historical overview of the state of the African American community following the Emancipation Proclamation.

Emancipation Day represents the freedom of African Americans from the bondage of slavery and is celebrated at various times throughout the country. The ordinance to abolish slavery in Missouri was passed on January 11, 1865.
