Mackenna Reiter '26 Wins Whitfield Poetry Out Loud Competition

Congratulations to Mackenna Reiter ’26, the winner of Whitfield’s 2023 Poetry Out Loud Competition. Mackenna will compete in the regional competition on February 15, 2023. Sloane Shatzer ’24 is this year’s alternate. Olivia Wolf ’23 and Adrian Harrold ’24 also competed.

Poetry Out Loud, a program created by the National Endowment for the Arts, encourages the study of poetry and provides a dynamic recitation competition to high schools across the country. Students are asked to choose a poem to recite by memory with judging largely based on conveying a proper understanding of the poem's meaning. The competition involves over 250,000 high school students nationwide.
