Multiple Whitfield Students Place in the STLCC Excellence in Mathematics Competition
On Saturday, November 4th members of our community participated in the Excellence in Mathematics competition at St. Louis Community College Forest Park. The Excellence in Mathematics contest has been a St. Louis tradition for over 50 years. High school students from around the region gather to solve challenging mathematics problems and celebrate a love for mathematics.
Both team and individuals were recognized for their outstanding performances. Team awards were determined by the top four performers at each grade level. Despite only having two 9th grade participants, Omri Snir and Richard Heidenry were able to secure Whitfield a 3rd place team finish! Individually, senior Lucy Heidenry earned a 7th place finish out of all seniors competing, junior, Jack Reiter, earned a 7th place finish out of all juniors competing, and freshman, Omri Snir, finished in 7th place out of all freshmen competing. Finally, an individual medal was awarded to to freshman, Richard Heidenry, who earned 1st place! Congratulations to all of our participants!
