Whitfield Alumni Reunion: A Day of Connections and New Memories

Whitfield recently played host to a spectacular Alumni Reunion on Saturday, May 4, 2024, welcoming back graduates from various classes for a day filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and celebration.

The event, which saw alumni from near and far, was a testament to the enduring bonds forged within the Whitfield community. Graduates spanning across the years were warmly welcomed, with special recognition given to the Classes of 2014, 1999, and 1974, commemorating their 10th, 25th, and 50th reunions, respectively.

The day's festivities kicked off with the Black Student Union (BSU) & Black Alumni Social at Koman Commons. This was followed by the Reunion Weekend Picnic on the Whitfield back patio and field. Alumni and their children enjoyed lunch and took advantage of the photo booth, bubbles, and inflatables. Current Whitfield students were on hand to enhance the fun of our youngest guests and to allow their parents the opportunity to catch up with classmates.

As the day progressed, alumni from the Class of 1974 and the esteemed Old Guard (1953-1979) gathered at the Barnes & Cole Alumni House for a special 50th Reunion and Old Guard Social. It was a poignant moment to honor the legacy and enduring spirit of those who have shaped the Whitfield community over the decades.

The festivities concluded with the Reunion Weekend Evening Celebration in the Schmitter Gallery. Current and former faculty and staff joined their former students, turned friends, to reminisce about greenslips and assemblies.

Overall, the Alumni Reunion was a resounding success, bringing together generations of Whitfield alumni to celebrate the cherished memories and lasting connections forged during their time at the school. As graduates departed, hearts full and spirits uplifted, the echoes of laughter and camaraderie lingered, a testament to the enduring legacy of the Whitfield community.
