Whitfield Students Achieve National Recognition in 'Your Voice is Power' Competition
The Whitfield School is proud to announce that two students from the class of 2025, Jordan Litvag and Jack Reiter, have earned national recognition in the prestigious 'Your Voice is Power' competition, sponsored by Amazon and Georgia Tech. This competition, designed to empower young musicians and coders, challenges students across the United States to create original music using EarSketch, a platform that teaches coding through music composition.
Jordan Litvag placed fourth overall in the country, while Jack Reiter received an honorable mention. Both students entered the competition as part of their junior year physics unit on sound and as their final project, where they used EarSketch to apply their knowledge of sound properties and composition.
In their studies, Litvag and Reiter explored key qualities of sound, such as timbre, pitch, amplitude, and phase, learning how these elements contribute to the overall musical experience. By coding music in EarSketch, they were able to combine their understanding of these principles with their creativity, using sound as a tool for artistic expression.
The Whitfield School is thrilled with their achievement and congratulates Jordan and Jack on their success in this competitive, nationwide contest. Their participation in 'Your Voice is Power' not only showcases their dedication to innovation and creativity but also underscores the interdisciplinary connections between physics, music, and technology.
