Whitfield Students Design for the Year of the Snake
The Whitfield School is proud to take part in the St. Louis Chinese American Newspaper’s annual Chinese New Year Special Edition, this year celebrating the Year of the Snake! The 2025 Chinese New Year falls on Wednesday, January 29, and the Special Edition will be published just days before, around January 25, reaching readers during the heart of the celebrations.
As part of this meaningful tradition, advanced Mandarin students in Mrs. Amy Muggleton’s class participated in a real-life design challenge, applying their language skills and cultural knowledge to create an ad representing Whitfield in this special publication. After thoughtful review by Mrs. Erin Walsh, director of communications and marketing, Aiko Cagle’s design was selected to be featured in the issue.
This project exemplifies Whitfield’s commitment to experiential education, offering students the opportunity to apply classroom learning in meaningful, real-world contexts. By designing an ad in Mandarin for a local publication, students not only enhanced their language skills but also engaged with the broader St. Louis community, showcasing the relevance of their studies beyond the classroom.
We are excited to see Aiko’s work in print and celebrate the Year of the Snake alongside our community!
