LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

August 2022

Hello Whitfield Community,

On behalf of the Whitfield Parents Council, Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! As we begin a new school year, we are very excited about being a Community in Action again! We will have on-campus Parents Council volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. The Parents Council is a volunteer, parent-run organization that collaborates with the school to support several initiatives including the Campus Store, Conant Cafe, and Dunne Concession Stand. Volunteers are also behind the scenes hanging artwork, preparing mailings, organizing meals for thespians, and providing support for numerous one-day events throughout the year. As parents and guardians of Whitfield students you are all members of the Parents Council and support its efforts through the dues you pay each fall.

We all agree that a deep sense of community is what makes Whitfield special. Being a volunteer provides engagement with other parents, students, staff, and faculty, thus creating a well-connected community. Our collective efforts enrich the experience generated for our children and offer us the opportunity to have fun together. This year, as we return to campus for some of our volunteer opportunities, we look forward to supporting our faculty/staff and each other, as I know many of you are eager to help. Volunteer signups will be available via Sign Up Genius as well as communications from your grade level Parent Liaisons.

In the meantime, there are a few ways to support Whitfield utilizing passive fundraising. We will try to continue our support of local restaurants by having “Whitfield Night” events where a portion of sales will be donated back to Parents Council. Other ways include shopping through AmazonSmile. For more information about these opportunities, contact me at (pc.president@whitfieldschool.org). If ever you have a question or something you wish to share, please feel free to contact me directly. I look forward to the exciting school year ahead and how we can all connect, virtually and in person. I hope to see you around campus!

Best,

Shelly Edwards (Chris ’21, Caden ’25)
