Tuition & Financial Aid

The cost to educate each student at The Whitfield School greatly exceeds the cost of tuition. The “gap” is covered by drawing from the school's endowment, and generous gifts from current and past parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends of the school.

Families may choose to pay tuition in three different ways: one payment, two payments, or ten monthly payments. Tuition varies slightly depending on which payment plan a family chooses.

*Tuition is announced by the board of trustees annually in January. Annual tuition increases 3-5%.
**This annual figure is an average. Incidental expenses are billed monthly. These expenses include books, technology fees, Parent's  Council fee, athletic gear, band instrument rental, field trips, and optional purchases from the Whitfield Campus Store and Conant Cafe. Lunch is included in the cost of tuition. There is no charge for students who come to school early and/or stay late.

Starting October 1, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.

Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity Application, as Whitfield requires you to upload additional tax documentation.

Students and families do not need to apply for these scholarships. Scholarships are awarded by the Admission Committee during the application review process. Awards are sent with admission decisions. 

Scholarships are renewable each year. In order to renew the scholarship, recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress, demonstrate positive school citizenship, and actively contribute to the Whitfield School community.

Excellence in Character Scholarships recognize well-rounded students of exceptional character who demonstrate the potential to become remarkable school citizens, leaders and role models.  These students embrace the ideals of the Habits of Mind & Heart, seek to make a difference in the world around them and demonstrate empathy and kindness.

Mary L. Burke Merit Scholarships recognize academic achievement. Recipients present outstanding academic performance in a rigorous program, and strong SSAT/ISEE scores. Furthermore, students exhibit characteristics consistent with our Habits of Mind & Heart. Burke Scholars must be committed to their community and demonstrate the skills and determination necessary for success at Whitfield.
