Tuition & Financial Aid

The cost to educate each student at The Whitfield School greatly exceeds the cost of tuition. The “gap” is covered by drawing from the school's endowment, and generous gifts from current and past parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends of the school.

Families may choose to pay tuition in three different ways: one payment, two payments, or ten monthly payments. Tuition varies slightly depending on which payment plan a family chooses.

*Tuition is announced by the board of trustees annually in January. Annual tuition increases 3-5%.
**This annual figure is an estimate. Incidental expenses are billed monthly. These expenses include books, technology fees, Parent's  Council fee, athletic gear, band instrument rental, field trips, and optional purchases from the Whitfield Campus Store and Conant Cafe. Lunch is included in the cost of tuition. There is no charge for students who come to school early and/or stay late.

Starting October 1, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.

Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity Application, as Whitfield requires you to upload additional tax documentation.

In addition to need-based financial assistance, Whitfield grants a limited number of merit and character scholarships to incoming students each year. 

Whitfield Character Scholarships recognize well-rounded students of exceptional character who demonstrate the potential to become remarkable school citizens, leaders and role models.  These students embrace the ideals of the Habits of Mind & Heart, seek to make a difference in the world around them, and demonstrate empathy and kindness. In addition to a monetary award, character scholars also receive a Head of School’s Book Award.

Whitfield Merit Scholarships recognize academic achievement. Recipients present outstanding academic performance in a rigorous program alongside strong SSAT/ISEE scores. Furthermore, students exhibit characteristics consistent with the Habits of Mind & Heart. Merit scholars are committed to academic excellence and demonstrate the skills and determination necessary for success at Whitfield. These are students who we expect to raise the bar academically and inspire their peers to an even greater love of learning.

Scholarship Eligibility & Renewal 

Scholarships are granted to newly admitted students as part of the application process. No separate application is required, however if the student has supporting documentation or media to add to their admissions profile, we will include it for review. This may include things like: 

• School-issued awards 
• Competition placement or participation 
• Videos of a project or endeavor 
• Student-created websites or portfolios 
• Clips of published work 
• Award-winning writing 
• Volunteer work and community service 

The majority of scholarships are awarded during the regular decision timeline; it is important to have all application materials submitted by the due date. Families should note that in compliance with the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA), Whitfield does not offer athletic scholarships. 

Scholarship awards are shared along with admission decisions and any offer of need-based financial assistance.

Scholarships are renewable each year through graduation. In order to renew scholarship funds, recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress, demonstrate positive school citizenship, and actively contribute to the Whitfield School community.
