Leah Fiske has served as the Head Coach of the Whitfield Varsity Dance Team for 18 years. She has been teaching dance for over 25 years and has worked as an instructor for Universal Dance Team Association as well as several area studios.
Coach Fiske began her dance training at age three and has studied ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. She danced competitively with a studio team and was a member of her high school dance team for four years. During her junior and senior years, Coach Fiske was on the nationally-ranked varsity dance team. She served as the team choreographer, and their performance was broadcast on ESPN. As a college student Coach Fiske was a member of a hip-hop dance line and performed with a professional jazz dance company.
Coach Fiske is a member of the Missouri Dance Team Association Board of Directors, on which she has served for 12 years. She feels honored to be able to share her love of dance not only with her Whitfield dancers but also with all of the dance teams and coaches in the state of Missouri. Coach Fiske feels very proud of the Warrior Dancers’ hard work which has resulted in their earning many honors, including 6 Missouri State Dance Team Championships (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015).
She feels very fortunate to have the great honor and privilege of helping Whitfield students to develop confidence, work ethic, interpersonal skills, kindness, school spirit, and sportsmanship through sharing the art and sport of dance. She loves spending her time with young people because they are energetic and enthusiastic, and because they teach her something new every day.
