Receipt of a completed application will officially enter the candidate in the hiring pool for the position in question. Candidates chosen for interviews will receive an invitation via e-mail or telephone. Interviews will involve conversations about the candidate's background, experiences, teaching philosophy and likely responses to hypothetical scenarios drawn from typical classroom situations. Candidates will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the position and about Whitfield School.
Candidates who during their interviews demonstrate high compatibility with Whitfield's expectations for the position in question may be provided with further readings or assignments, and invited back to Whitfield for a more in-depth experience that may include meeting with teachers and administrators, observing classes in session and even guest teaching or observation.
The Head of School and Principal, in consultation with department heads and other community members, will select a finalist, who will be invited back to campus to discuss specifics of the position, including contractual details. At every stage of the hiring process, candidates who do not advance can expect their materials to be kept on file for up to one year in the event that other positions become available.
