Camp Whitfield Off to a Great Start!
Posted 07/11/2019 08:43AM

The first week of Camp Whitfield is off to a terrific start! Here's just a small sampling of what our campers have been doing in their classes which are taught by our amazing Whitfield teachers!

  • Campers in Eugene Logusch's engineering class are learning to work in teams solving practical design problems that illustrate everyday physics and engineering principles. Their activities have included a parachute-slowed egg drop (pictured), Rube Goldberg marble tracks, bridge building, and catapults.
  • In the ceramics studio with Cara Foster, ceramics campers have finished working with stoneware clay (pictured) and their sculptures are in the kiln. Campers will now focus on working with polymer clay to make fun food sculptures and jewelry.
  • Great things are happening over in maker space with Jim Daniels. On day one, campers created abstract masterpieces using centrifugal force and acrylic paint; these paintings are beautiful! On day two, campers explored simple circuits while making mini-flashlights using popsicle sticks, conductive tape, batteries and an LED light. Yesterday, they made marshmallow catapults (pictured).

To supplement their choice classes, all campers enjoy art, sports, games, and improvisation!
