Varsity Athlete of the Week - October 30, 2018
Posted 10/30/2018 09:54AM

The Varsity Athlete of the Week is Abby Morgan '20, a junior midfielder on the field hockey team. Throughout this season, Abby's skill and field awareness has improved each and every day, with the bulk of her growth happening through the month of October. It is evident to her coaches and teammates that Abby's confidence in herself, along with her abilities, has helped bring the team to another level. Abby's ability to maintain possession under pressure has put her in the company of the areas top players.

Typically when players earn most improved awards, it is given to newer players who have found a way to adapt quickly to the speed of play. Abby came to Whitfield with seven years of field hockey experience and was already a strong player yet she has showed the most improvement of any veteran player that Coach Young has ever coached. Her mental game, speed, footwork, and stick work all found a way to mesh together, resulting in solid game performances. She is aggressive, competitive, and incredibly caring of her teammates and her coaches couldn't be more proud.
