Varsity Athlete of the Week - December 7, 2018
Posted 12/07/2018 09:25AM

The Varsity Athlete of the Week for December 7, 2018 is Gilayah McIntosh '22, a member of the dance team. Gilayah embodies Whitfield's motto, "Be kind and do the right thing." Her work ethic, positive attitude, sportsmanship and empathy for others were key to the dance team's successful performances at the Yvonne Cole Lindbergh Invitational on Saturday, December 2.

Gilayah consistently demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for the sport and art of dance and helps to inspire her teammates to stay positive and push forward in the face of adversity. She helped to energize and encourage her teammates throughout the day of the competition, even when the dancers felt nervous or discouraged. In addition, Gilayah did a great job of representing Whitfield at the invitational because she demonstrated sportsmanship by cheering for all of the teams that performed, including our competitors.
