Health and Wellness
At Whitfield, we believe in educating the whole child and recognize that success is the product of both academic skills and social-emotional skills, the former often dependent in some degree upon the latter. Our Health and Wellness department provides support for students, faculty, and parents in the development a variety of fundamental non-cognitive skills such as emotional intelligence, self-regulation, and empathy.
- direct short-term counseling with students and/or parents
- referrals for services in the community
- mental health skills training for students through PE classes
- professional development presentations for faculty/parent discussion groups.
- Habits of Mind and Heart
Ginny Fendell, MSW, LCSW, is Whitfield's director of health and wellness.
